Compassionate leadership for whole system working

WHO IS IT FOR?

This session is suitable for all staff and volunteers across the North East and North Cumbria health and care system. If you have any queries about your eligibility to attend, please get in touch.

ABOUT THE SESSION

Compassionate leadership in health and care is not just a nice-to-have. There is a clear relationship between the wellbeing of staff and the wellbeing of service users. For example, hospitals with higher staff engagement have lower mortality rates, better outcomes, and make significantly fewer mistakes (1).

This is an opportunity open to all staff who work at any level in health and care in the North East and North Cumbria to join a live virtual session led by Professor Michael West.

During the session, Michael will cover:

  1. The business case for compassionate leadership
  2. The importance of psychological safety and a strong relational approach – in particular for collaboration (cross-boundary working and working with our communities)
  3. Innovation through strong leadership

It is vital that we build a strong community of system leaders in the North East and North Cumbria to help foster strong collaboration, and nurture safe spaces for innovation and improvement. This session will also act as an opportunity for you to help shape our region's leadership community of practice, and you will be invited after the event to be involved in other activities to support our approach to leadership.
