Let's Talk Bereavement - Anticipatory Grief in Adults (Cohort 25)

These sessions are open to anyone living, working, or volunteering wanting to understand more about anticipatory grief in North Cumbria and priority given to this group. However, any spare funded places can be given to anyone outside this area that has expressed an interest in attending.

Anticipatory grief is can be deep emotional suffering and distress which is usually associated with the knowledge that a loved one is going to die. However, other losses can also lead to this type of grief. It can often be experienced over a long period of time when people are still expected to be living and working "normally" on a backdrop of life that is often not the normal for them.

Anticipatory grief can impact on our work, interactions, energy, and physical health. If you want to know more, then this session is a good introduction.

As a result of feedback from the first year of the Let's Talk Bereavement Project it has become clear that this type of grief is rarely recognised or supported and yet many of us will be experiencing this.

The aims of this session are for participants to:

  • Have an increased awareness and understanding of anticipatory grief
  • Be able to recognise this in themselves and others
  • Feel more confident about supporting someone through their grief and where to signpost for help and support

If you wish to attend the Let's Talk Bereavement core session, you can view training dates here.

Delegates may be interested in the Anticipatory Grief in Children sessions, or any of the other LTB training currently on offer, which can be found here.
