Please note this event will be recorded.

CLIC, in collaboration with North Cumbria Knowledge and Library Services, are planning a series of Lunch and Learns. These are 30 minute, virtual, informal sessions that take place at lunchtime - while you take a break and eat, you can listen to our invited speaker give a short talk sharing their experience of improvement work. The session is then open to anyone who has questions or reflections to offer.

Join us for this Lunch and Learn to hear from Karen Dutton (Let's Talk Bereavement Project Lead, North East and North Cumbria ICB) on the 'Let's Talk Bereavement Project'.

This session will provide information about the 2-year project, including the background, engagement, and impact so far.

Grief is a very unique experience and there are many barriers that inhibit people's ability to grieve in the way they need. The training provided through the project is having an impact and improving understanding around grief and increasing confidence to enable individuals to talk about grief and support each other.

It is important that we start to normalise conversations around death, dying and grief as unsupported grief can lead to long term health and well-being issues.

About our speaker...

I am a registered general nurse with a range of clinical and education experience during my nursing career.

Being involved in this project is a real privilege as my career and my post graduate education began in St Christopher's Hospice in Sydenham where the Hospice movement started with Dame Cecily Saunders. During this time, the importance of bereavement support was emphasised as an essential element of good quality care. This influenced my nursing practice & commitment within all care areas I have worked.
