Wellbeing at work: Menopause hints and tips (Cohort 1)

WHO IS IT FOR? 

This session is suitable for all staff and volunteers across the North East and North Cumbria health and care system. If you have any queries about your eligibility to attend, please get in touch.

 

ABOUT THE SESSION 

We know that almost 80% of the NHS workforce is recorded as female and 100% of these women will have a menopause.  We also know that although not everyone will have symptoms, as many as 80% of us report problematic symptoms that affect us at work. We are working longer and we know that we really need to ensure we get good rest, maximise our energy and feel well to be our best at work. 

This is not always the case. According to recent research, 25% of us report severe symptoms, 69% experience anxiety or depression due to menopause and 84% experience trouble sleeping.

 

This session will outline basic awareness of menopause and why this is an important workplace issue. It will then explore the most common symptoms of the menopause and how some of us have found symptoms to impact on us at work. 

Discussion will be encouraged to explore how these symptoms affect those of us attending, how some of us have found the impact of these symptoms when we are at work and any supportive things we have found helpful.

We will then cover some hints and tips to help us to be our best both at work and outside of work and look at how we can support each other going forward.
